It’s been so long since the Orioles won a press conference; I think Paul Richards was still running things the last time optimism was batting leadoff. But judging from the joyous first day that new manager Craig Albernaz provided, maybe all is not lost (“Craig Albernaz owned Day 1. Can he lift the Orioles next?” Nov. 5). He was adept, funny, smart, competent and his 2-year-old daughter, Gigi, is a born bat-girl-in-training.

One thing Albernaz provided on Day 1: He made the interim guy, Tony Mansolino, look oh-so-2025.
