The way the fates have it, Baltimore is going through a rebuilding and restructuring process for both the Orioles and Ravens. I do not know if these teams have ever gone so far south in the same year (“Fans say Ravens’ start more disappointing than Orioles,” Oct. 16).

Are Baltimore fans going to tolerate yet another schizophrenic season from the Orioles? The last time the Birds won the World Series — in 1983 against the Phillies — seems like eons ago.

As for the Ravens, people are chirping about how horrendous this team has become. After putting thought to this, head coach John Harbaugh will have the task of putting together a new team.

The sports horizon in Maryland looks bleak — and should have never gotten this way.
