Annapolis Democratic mayoral candidate Jared Littmann spent more than $35,000 in the weeks preceding Tuesday’s city primary, greatly outspending his Democratic competitor, Rhonda Pindell Charles, who spent less than $1,500.

Campaign reports released Monday, covering spending and contributions from Aug. 18 through Sept. 7 for primary candidates, revealed significant funding disparities between the mayoral hopefuls. If elected, they would serve four-year terms.

Littmann spent his funds mostly on mailers and digital ads leading up to Tuesday’s primary election against current Ward 3 Alderman Pindell Charles. In November, the primary winner will face Republican Bob O’Shea, who does not have a Republican opponent.

Pindell Charles received more donations this reporting cycle, approximately $3,300 in contributions from 16 donors, than Littmann, who received almost $400 from seven donors. Littmann, a former alderman and current hardware store owner, still leads total campaign fundraising among the Democratic mayoral candidates, bringing in a total of about $191,500 since his campaign began in January of 2024. Pindell Charles has raised about $36,600.

Littmann’s campaign had $60,000 in cash on hand with no outstanding obligations, as of Sept. 7, while Pindell Charles has about $7,300 remaining with about $49,500 in debt.
